Adversarial intelligence encompasses the knowledge, skills, expertise, and strategic behavior that support competition between rivals. Una-May's goal is to develop Artificial Adversarial Intelligence, and she specializes in designing adversarially intelligent software agents. Intelligent adversaries, like the ones she creates, are capable of learning from observing how their strategies perform, enabling them to enhance their tactics over time. When adversaries on both sides of a competition improve, it essentially leads to an arms race. Una-May will introduce her approach to automating the programming of adversarial cyber agents and replicating arms races using genetic programming and coevolutionary algorithms.

Bernhard Iber ist als Manager bei Deloitte Digital verantwortlich für den Aufbau und die Weiterentwicklung des Bereichs Artificial Intelligence & Data.
Er hat umfassende Expertise im Bereich Business Intelligence, sowie in den damit zusammenhängenden Dimensionen (Prozesse, Datenmodelle, Operations, Organisation). Im Zuge seiner Tätigkeit konnte er umfassende Erfahrung mit dem Management von komplexen Digitalisierungsprojekten mit kleinen und großen Teams sammeln.
Er hat eine Vielzahl an Softwareimplementierungen sowie –entwicklungen in leitenden Funktionen begleitet und versteht es Ressourcenpriorisierungen so vorzunehmen, dass Projektziele vollständig in time und budget erreicht werden. Gleichzeitig schafft er es dabei auch stehts die Bedürfnisse der Enduser zu wahren und mittels effektivem Change Management mitzunehmen.

Penetrationstests sowie wiederkehrende Schwachstellenscans, welche bereits KI-unterstützt durchgeführt werden, helfen Unternehmen, Schwachstellen frühzeitig zu erkennen und zu behandeln. Schwachstellen werden meist in einem Informationssicherheitssystem (ISMS) registriert, bewertet, behandelt und geschlossen. Process Mining Algorithmen können auf Grund der Daten eines ISMS ein Prozessmodell erstellen, welches es ermöglicht, ein temporales Profil für den Prozess zu erstellen. Weiters werden die zeitlichen Abstände zwischen 2 Aktivitäten und die Dauer von Aktivitäten analysiert. Durch diese Profile können Anomalien für zukünftige Iterationen dieses Prozesses entdeckt werden, beispielsweise ein Abstand, welcher signifikant vom Profil abweicht. Es gibt Faktoren, welche den Prozess beeinflussen können, wie die Branche oder Größe eines Unternehmens. In diesem Vortrag werden Sie ein spezifisches Profil für ein Unternehmen, basierend auf einem Clusteringverfahren, generieren und Anomalien genauer unter die Lupe nehmen!
Bereits während seines Studiums an der Universität Wien beschäftigte sich Florian Stertz bereits mit maschinellem Lernen und Process Mining. Er war 2013-2022 als wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter auch auf der Uni Wien beschäftigt und hat dort an Projekten mitgearbeitet, in welchen Abhängigkeiten von verschiedenen Prozessinstanzen aus verschiedenen Prozessen analysiert wurden. Evaluiert wurden diese Methoden mit Datensätzen aus dem Bereich der Pflege und der Produktion in Zusammenarbeit mit dem „Austrian Center for Digital Production“. Seit 2022 ist er als Entwickler bei der Firma „condignum“ tätig, wo er neue Erfahrungen im Security Bereich gesammelt hat.

Transformer-Modelle, GPTs (Generative Pre-trained Transformers) und LLMs (Large Language Models) haben in den letzten Jahren zu disruptiven Veränderungen in zahlreichen Bereichen geführt. HENSOLDT Analytics beschäftigt sich im Rahmen von Forschungs- und kommerziellen Projekten mit Open Source Intelligence (OSINT). Auch in diesem Anwendungsbereich ist der Impact dieser Technologien nicht mehr zu übersehen und führt zu raschen Veränderungen. OSINT (die Sammlung und Verarbeitung von Inhalten aus frei verfügbaren, offenen Quellen, mit dem Ziel, daraus Informationen zu gewinnen) findet sowohl in sicherheitsrelevanten Kontexten wie auch in kommerziellen Bereichen Anwendung. Technologien aus dem Bereich des Natural Language Processing (NLP) spielen hierbei eine zentrale Rolle. In diesem Vortrag hören Sie mehr zu den genannten Elementen im Kontext des OSINT Systems und lernen aktuelle Entwicklungen im Bereich der LLMs kennen.
Gerhard Backfried ist einer der Mitgründer und derzeit Chief Scientific Officer (CScO) bei HENSOLDT Analytics (ehemals SAIL LABS GmbH). Vor seinem Eintritt bei HENSOLDT Analytics war er in den Bereichen Expertensysteme für den Finanzsektor und persönliche Diktiersysteme (IBMs ViaVoice) tätig. Seine technische Expertise umfasst Akustik- und Sprachmodellierung, Spracherkennungsalgorithmen und NLP. Sein besonderes Interesse gilt der Kombination von traditionellen und sozialen Medien, insbesondere im Kontext der mehrsprachigen und multimedialen Katastrophenkommunikation.

Generative KI ist ein Innovationsmotor, der eine neue Ära der KI einläutet und branchenübergreifend große, wirtschaftliche Chancen eröffnet. In diesem Vortrag erfahren Sie, wie Unternehmen das wirtschaftliche Potenzial von KI, insbesondere generativer KI, nutzen können. Sie werden zudem lernen, wie diese Potenziale in Organisationen erschlossen werden können. Dabei wird beleuchtet, wie Organisationen eine wirksame KI-Strategie entwickeln sollten und welche Methoden für die Umsetzung von Anwendungsfällen der generativen KI praktikabel sind. Abschließend sehen Sie, wie man die richtigen Use Cases für generative KI auswählt und generative KI-Anwendungen, die in Zusammenarbeit mit mm1 entwickelt wurden, werden vorgestellt.
David Dür ist seit 2020 bei der Unternehmensberatung mm1 tätig. Er leitet in der Data Thinking Practice das Team Delivery und ist speziell für Toolboxing und Weiterbildungsmaßnahmen in Datenthemen verantwortlich. Seine Expertise reicht von der Entwicklung digitaler Plattformen über die Planung und Umsetzung von Data Governance in Großunternehmen bis hin zu diversen Fähigkeiten, wie Projekt- oder Innovationsmanagement.

Organisationssoziologisch ist der Auftrag an HR, die richtigen Menschen für einzelne Rollen in Organisationen zu identifizieren und dafür zu sorgen, dass diese Menschen gesund bleiben sowie zufrieden im Rahmen ihrer Rolle und Aufgabe sind. Dies inkludiert alles, was im Organisationsrahmen dazu gehört, mit dem Ergebnis einer höheren Wahrscheinlichkeit, produktive und effektive Mitarbeitende zu beschäftigen. Ähnlich ist der Auftrag an New Work, hinsichtlich eines Designs für die System Organisation: Der optimale physikalische und virtuelle Rahmen soll geschaffen werden. Der Vortrag geht der Frage nach, was KI in diesem Bereich beitragen kann. Dabei erfahren Sie mehr über vier spezifische Cluster: Anwendungsbeispiele für Bilderkennung (Computer Vision), Spracherkennung und -interaktion (Natural Language Processing), Anomalie-Erkennung oder Problem-Früherkennung (Predictive Analytics) und Content-Generierung (Generative AI).
Mag. Gertrud Götze startete als Business Analyst in einem amerikanischen IT Unternehmen. Danach folgten 20 Jahre als international tätige Führungskraft in der System Integration und Digitalisierung. Sie kehrte 2017 zurück nach Österreich und leitete den Bereich Systems Integration innerhalb der T-Systems Austria. 2020 orientierte sie sich neu und übernahm als Geschäftsführerin T-Systems Austria den Bereich Human Resources.

Alexander Piglmann ist Data Scientist bei der MSTAGE GmbH. Sein beruflicher Weg begann als Full Stack Developer, zunächst als Praktikant und seit 2021 bei Mstage berufsbegleitend zu seinem Bachelorstudium Data Science an der FH St. Pölten. Derzeit setzt er seine Ausbildung fort durch das Masterstudium "Data Intelligence" und kümmert sich um die Ausarbeitung datengesteuerter Lösungen für MStage und andere E-Commerce Unternehmen.

This talk will show you some of the most interesting aspects in the research and development of AI-driven tools for attack detection in industrial control systems. It will focus on the ongoing research project ResilMesh, an Innovation Action project funded by the European Union and dedicated to revolutionizing cybersecurity practices. At its core, ResilMesh seeks to develop a state-of-the-art security orchestration and analysis toolset based on CSA (Cyber Situational Awareness). One of the goals of this initiative is to develop advanced AI (Artificial Intelligence) algorithms and tools for early and continuous detection and prediction of APTs (Advanced Persistent Threats), addressing the sophistication of cyber threats, which will be the main topic of this presentation.
DI Dr. Branka Stojanović, CISSP is a key researcher and team leader in the area of Cyber Security and Pervasive Computing at DIGITAL - Institute for Digital Technologies at JOANNEUM RESEARCH. She is author and co-author of more than 40 scientific publications and participates in several scientific program- and review committees. Her research interests include machine learning, cyber security, computer vision and biometrics. She leads and contributes to several nationally funded and HEU projects covering different aspects of cyber security and intelligent processing in industrial control systems.

Learn more about SymbolicAI – a versatile and modular framework that employs a logic-based approach to concept learning and flow management in generative processes. This framework facilitates the seamless integration of generative models with a diverse range of solvers. Large language models (LLMs) and probabilistic programming principles were integrated to tackle complex tasks using a divide and conquer strategy. This allows utilizing differentiable and classical programming paradigms with their respective strengths. Central to the framework, LLMs are tasked with executing computations, such as natural language understanding and formal language instructions. The approach establishes a set of operations that manipulate a data stream and guide the LLMs to align with the user's objectives. Inherently, these operations exhibit polymorphic and compositional properties, which facilitate the implementation of various data types and behaviors. The result is a seamless transition between foundation models endowed with zero and few-shot learning capabilities and specialized, fine-tuned models proficient in addressing specific problems. The framework introduces a hierarchical structure of abstractions and contextually relevant expression associations that facilitate the development of interpretable computational graphs.
Marius-Constantin Dinu is a PhD Student at the JKU and a machine learning researcher at Atlas, and deeply engaged in advancing the frontiers of knowledge in the realm of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. His commitment extends to teaching at the JKU, where he imparts expertise in the Deep Reinforcement Learning exercise courses. Marius is also a member of the AI Austria community. In his role as an Atlas AI Research Scientist, he brings to bear over a decade of practical experience in the Software Engineering industry. With more than six years dedicated to the Machine Learning sector he possesses a profound understanding of this dynamic field.

That Metric Timeline (tmt) is a Python library aimed at the machine/deep learning practitioner or researcher. It helps tracking experiments as well as saving code, metrics and results. This is done in the simplest way possible, both from the user’s and the library developer’s perspective: tmt follows the KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid) principle. Finally, this library works 100% offline, you don’t need the internet, a cloud subscription or anything else: an old-fashioned, fully open source library.
Alessio Molinari is an Italian PhD in computer science, who was a backend developer for MMONCLOUD LTD from 2017 until 2019 as well as a researcher at ISTI-CNR from 2019 until 2023. He is now working as a data scientist in Vienna for STRG GmbH, an Austrian software development and digital transformation company. His main interests are not only machine and deep learning related fields, but also the Linux and open-source world.

Many of today's most successful approaches for predicting time series data use machine and/or deep learning approaches such as different neural network architectures. These approaches strongly depend on the data available to train the employed algorithm, long-term data sets are rare and often sparsely sampled. They are often difficult to predict because of numerous influences that affect these data sets. Thus, these data sets have an inherent randomness to them. The problem of sparsely sampled data and the inherent randomness can be overcome by employing different interpolation techniques as well as ensemble predictions. The presented research introduces you to two novel interpolation techniques. A Hurst-exponent-based fractal interpolation taking into account the fluctuative nature of stochastic time series data. As well as a stochastic interpolation method that looks at the reconstructed phase space properties of chaotic time series to produce an interpolation with a smooth phase space trajectory. Furthermore, you will learn about an ensemble technique that takes into account the complexity and/or reconstructed phase-space properties of the data under study. This is achieved by randomly parameterizing a multitude of long short term memory neural networks (LSTM), having them produce an autoregressive prediction, and afterwards filtering this multitude of different predictions based on their signal complexity and/or reconstructed phase space properties. The results show that neural network time-series predictions can drastically be improved by employing the discussed interpolation techniques. They can effectively be filtered based on their inherent complexity and phase space properties to improve ensemble predictions.
Sebastian Raubitzek studied theoretical physics with a focus on Higgs physics in Graz. He then expanded his expertise with a PhD in Computer Science/AI. Since January 2023, he has been working at SBA-Research in the Complexity and Resilience Research Group to conduct research around complexity, chaos and artificial intelligence.

David is the CISO of Anyline, an Austrian scale-up, where he manages the organization’s IT and Information Security agendas. Prior to this position, he worked for 6 years as a Security Consultant and Data Protection Officer for SEC Consult (later Atos), where he focused on governance, risk, and compliance aspects of technology and business processes. David holds a MSc degree from FH St. Pölten and is currently finishing a law degree at JKU Linz, where he explores legal aspects of emerging technologies such as AI.
Christian leads Anyline’s Technology organization including Engineering, Data and Support. Before joining Anyline he held various positions in technology-developing organizations including IBM in NY, USA and Kapsch in Vienna, AT. Christian holds a PhD in Computer Science from TU Wien in Vienna, AT. He actively engages in organizational and leadership development through his venture, digitalbarn, leveraging his 20 years of experience.

Neural networks (NNs) are increasingly deployed to control complex systems where traditional control approaches are not capable to do so. When controlling complex systems, for example embedded systems in robotics, the big open question is: How to provide safety-guarantees, predictable behavior, strong assurances, and thus trustworthiness, so that the use of NN controllers becomes a feasible strategy? The main focus of this talk to show you how to build NN-controlled systems that consistently perform as intended, with predictable behavior and robustness against various conditions or inputs. This includes systematic testing and statistical reachability analysis to ensure reliability in real-world. In reachability analysis, this question is addressed by giving over-approximations of the solution space of the AI systems, considering the desired accuracy and computational power. The goal is to ensure that trustworthy AI becomes the cornerstone for empowering control over complex systems.
Sophie Neubauer, a mathematician, completed her doctoral program in the Cyber-Physical Systems Group at TU Wien and is currently CTO of DatenVorsprung. Her passion is to combine her mathematical skills with Artificial Intelligence with the goal to provide trustworthy AI in safety-critical environments.
Philipp Neubauer, the CEO of DatenVorsprung, previously held the position of Head of Automation at Cubicure GmbH. His leadership played a pivotal role in transforming a startup in additive manufacturing into a globally renowned company specializing in mechanical engineering and process technology. With his expertise in system architectures, Philipp is now focused on enhancing the scalability of the company’s systems.
